Through over 40 years of training and teaching, Haruo Matsuoka Sensei (Chief Instructor 7th Dan Shihan - Aikikai Foundation) has developed a unique approach to teaching Aikido, the martial art codified by Morihei Ueshiba.
From 1989 to 1997, Matsuoka Sensei served as the Chief Instructor of Tenshin Dojo in Los Angeles. At the end of 1997, he furthered his Aikido study by returning to Japan to teach and study directly under Shihan Seiseki Abe Sensei (10th Dan), one of the highest-ranking disciples of O-Sensei. Abe Sensei promoted Matsuoka Sensei to the rank of Go-Dan (5th degree black belt). In 2024, Matsuoka Sensei received his 7th Dan directly from Doshu, Moriteru Ueshiba.
In recent years, expanding on the mission of building lasting friendships to promote Aikido, Matsuoka Sensei brought long-time students from Belgium, France, Spain, and Italy, along with his students in the United States, under the umbrella of the Aikido Doshinokai Association.
Presently, Matsuoka Sensei is the president of the Aikido Doshinokai Association while maintaining his active duty as the chief instructor at the Seishinjuku Dojo in Los Angeles, California.
